Visualizing the Super Bowl

Visualizing the Super Bowl

This visualization shows the "twitter sphere" of the Super Bowl (2012), held in Indianapolis.

It was built using live geotagged tweets that were generated during the final game between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants. I wanted to understand if the Super Bowl was a truly global event or was it localized to the United States.

Turns out, that the United Kingdom is the largest tweeter of the Super Bowl outside the US. It is estimated that over 10,000 tweets were generated during the Super Bowl every second.
