Paying Off Holiday Expenses

Paying Off Holiday Expenses

The eggnog is gone, gifts are on their way to being exchanged, and the thought of even one more cookie makes you see double. Yes, the holidays are over. But then you get your first credit card bill of the new year. Yikes! You didn't realize you did that much shopping! Now what?

Well, first of all, don't panic. You're not in this boat alone. A lot of people overspend during the holiday season. Getting back on track will just take a little time, some will power, and a few smart tactics. You can make more than the minimum payment on your cards, or even transfer a balance to a lower-interest-rate card. If you use a card that offers money back or other perks, time to cash in! Most importantly, control your spending, at least for a little while. Put your credit cards away and stick to cash, or for more safety, a prepaid debit card. You may also want to start putting a little money aside now. It's never too early to start planning for the holidays!
