The Past and the Future of US Manufacturing

The news are flooded with debates related to the rise of China and the future of the West. Some observers believe that while America’s position erodes China is getting more powerful transforming the Western-oriented world order. Prominent among those debates is the China’s current exchange policy and the effects on US manufacturing sector and on jobs creation. So, topics such as, for example, the undervalued Renmimbi, current account global imbalances, labour costs, inflation, productivity and innovation have became a political imperatives for both countries. However, analysis on the same issue show different results and so the outcome of policy proposals still remains unclear.
