Olympic Demographic Visual Analytics Tool

Olympic Demographic Visual Analytics Tool

In order to be able to analyze and the visualize complex attitudes of the UK public towards the Olympics, our team has created an interactive visualization tool.
It begins by showing the percentage of people who see the benefits of the Olympics split across the Olympic logo. The 2 sections created by this split can be clicked so that the user can then explore how people surveyed feel about the Olympics (their emotions) – The visualisation shows quite apparrently that although people might not experience the benefits of the olympics themselves, they still feel excited about it.
Feelings like excitement, pride and anger are visualised in the second view. These feelings can be clicked on, bringing up more detailed information about those people who experienced these feelings. A good example is people who don’t receive any apreciable benefits of the Olympic games coming tho their town, and are excited about it anyway; who are these people?
The entire ‘OlympicFutures_UK_Raw.xls’ was parsed into a Processing application, and queries where made by filtering and calculating the collected data in real-time.
