How liveable are cities?
This visualization shows the Cities Liveability Index (Economist Intelligence Unit). Each graph shows the different categories for each city, and they are color coded according to the continent they belong.
The cities are initially ordered according to liveability index, but it's possible to order them according to population, human development index and footprint. In this way it's easy to see that the best cities belong to countries with a high human development index, but the footprint is quite bad.
An alternative for the liveability index is also presented in the visualization. This takes in account two additional factors: life satisfaction and environment.
This visualization is a submission for the Best City contest (http://buzzdata.com/best-city-contest) . More details regarding the submission can be found at: http://buzzdata.com/roxana/best-city-contest-roxana-torre
