Healthcare Disparities: Let's Do Our Part To Balance The Scale
Healthcare disparities still prevail with the worsening of certain core measures in priority populations. These core measures reflect the quality of health care and access to health care in the general US population. All the core measures listed have worsened in one, some or all of the priority groups (blacks, Asians. American Indians, Alaska Natives, Hispanics, the poor), mentioned when compared to whites. This disparity in healthcare is depicted by the unbalanced scale, with the scale favoring those receiving quality healthcare as opposed to those receiving suboptimal quality of care. This data was taken from the National Healthcare Quality Report that was authored by the members of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the Department of Healt and Human Services.
