Harsh Justice: Comparing Prisons around the World

Prisons around the world house some of the world’s most infamous criminals. www.criminaljusticedegreehub.com has created an infographic entitled “Harsh Justice: Comparing Prisons around the World” exploring different prisons around the world, along with their populations, and some of their more gruesome tactics.
This infographic lists over 35 countries, along with their prison population, with China holding a steady #1. China houses more than 10 times the prisoners than any other country. The United States has it’s own prison population problem, but prisoners such as Ted Kaczynski, Richard Reid, and Terry Nichols find their prison home at Florence, Colorado’s ADX super max. This prison gained popularity after a class action suit claimed the prisoners engaged in self-mutilation and other disturbing actions. While the U.S. prison system is far from perfect, other prisons are notorious for violations of human rights as well. Diyarbakir Prison in Turkey, and Camp 22 in North Korea are also among the most infamous and barbaric prisons in the world. This infographic details some of the torture that prisoners may go through on a daily basis, such as water torture, hanging torture, box-room torture, kneeling torture, and pigeon torture.
