Chicken Production in the US

Chicken Production in the US

This map shows the stratification based on climate of industrial chicken farming. Eggs are produced in the north because hens are sensitive to high temperatures. Meat is produced in the south because chicks are sensitive to cold. What industrial methods gain in efficiency comes at the price of animal welfare, fossil fuel consumption, and waste concentration.
