6 Opportunities to Support the Arts
As part of my work in RISD's Office of Government Relations as a student research assistant, I research various members of Congress and the House of Representatives to determine who might support STEAM policy work. This work includes looking at voting records, caucuses, signed "Dear Colleague" letters, as well as more in depth research examining statements either for or against the arts and events they may have attended or hosted. This research was then documented in a booklet to be used as we continue our policy work, but I also created a few infographics to visually identify members of Congress.
While AftAAF publishes a "report card" annually that draws upon voting record and the six opportunities listed below, there are several members of Congress that I found in my research to be equally supportive (or un-supportive) of funding for the arts. AftAAF identified members have either gold stars or dark grey cancel signs for who made "Honor Roll" and the "Dirty Dozen."
