Visualization Submission Agreement
Submitting Visualization Content
The term "Visualization Content" refers to any and all content, media and materials you submit for posting on the site using the Visualization Submission Features, including, without limitation, information, data, texts, scripts, photographs, writings, video, slides, portraits, animated and/or motion pictures, caricatures, likenesses, computer graphics and visual effects.
Visualization Content must meet all requirements related to formatting, compatibility, and operating characteristics. You can find these requirements on the Site's Visualization Upload page.
We are not responsible for lost, damaged, misdirected, unusable or unreadable Visualization Content.
In order to submit Visualization Content you will be asked to register and provide information about you (i.e. name, email, affiliation). You will also be asked to register if you wish to download any Visualization Content or post a comment or vote concerning any Visualization Content submitted. We will permit registration on the Site via "open ID" registration through Facebook and other social network platforms, in which case you will be allowing us to view additional information about you that you otherwise chose to reveal on those social network platforms.
We may present contests (called Challenges or an "Event" in the terms below) that permit you to submit a visualization based on specific criteria and may offer awards to some participants. Unless otherwise noted on the site, each Event is governed by these terms and by any specific terms that are presented to you when you submit an entry to an Event. If there is a conflict between these terms and the terms on a webpage for a specific Event, these terms will control. Each Event is co-sponsored by GE. Multiple entries are permitted. Each entry will be reviewed independently. Multiple individuals or entities may collaborate to submit a single entry. Participation is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited or restricted by law. You are responsible for checking applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction before participating in an Event to make sure that your participation is legal. You are responsible for all taxes and reporting related to any award that you receive as part of an Event.
ELIGIBILITY: Each Event is open to all individuals over the age of 18 and to all validly formed legal entities. Employees of GE and Seed Media and their affiliates or subsidiaries are not eligible to enter.
HOW TO ENTER: To enter, register on the Site, then complete the fields in the online submission form for a specific Event and submit your visualization (your "Entry") as directed on the Site. Deadlines for entry in each Event are given on the webpage describing that Event. Any conduct that we consider to be unethical or that interferes with the operation of the Event may result in an Entry being disqualified.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND OTHER RIGHTS: Neither GE nor Seed make any claim to ownership of your Entry or any intellectual property that it may contain. However, by submitting an Entry, your Entry is licensed to the general public under the Creative Commons license defined below and throughout the Site. By submitting an Entry, you also consent to our use of your name, likeness, and image, in connection with the Event and related activities, in any media or format now known or hereafter invented, in any and all locations worldwide, without any payment to or further approval from you. You agree that this consent is perpetual and cannot be revoked. You agree that nothing in these Rules grants you a right or license to use the GE or Seed Media name or any GE or Seed Media trademark or service mark. If your Entry is from a company, you grant to us the right to include your company name as an entrant on the Event website and in materials related to our promotion of the Event. Other than these uses, you are not granting us any rights to your trademarks.
JUDGING: Each Entry will be evaluated and scored by a panel of judges selected by Visualizing. Judges will rate each Entry based on the following criteria: (1) Understanding: How effectively does the visualization communicate? How well does it help you make sense of the issue at hand? (2) Originality: Are the approach and design innovative?; (3) Style: Is the visualization aesthetically compelling?; and (4) Other factors at the judge's discretion.
Creative Commons License / Grant of Rights
By submitting Visualization Content, you agree that such Visualization Content shall be licensed to members of the general public under the most recent version of the Creative Commons license known as the "share-alike, for attribution, non-commercial license" (the "Creative Commons License"), as defined at creativecommons.org.
If your Visualization Content is a derivative work, you agree to properly cite the author(s) of the underlying work on which your submission is based. You also represent and warrant that you have the right to use the underlying work within your Visualization Content and to grant the licenses granted above.
Unauthorized Content; Warranties
You acknowledge that others may submit content to the site that is similar to your Visualization Content, but you agree that we are not liable for the acts of any third parties. You agree to notify us if you believe any content on the site infringes your rights or the rights of any third party.
You represent, warrant to us that: (i) you are not a minor under the age of 13, or if you are a minor between the ages of 13 and 18, your parent or legal guardian has agreed to this Agreement on your behalf and (ii) the information provided by you associated with your Visualization Content is not knowingly false.
