Olympics Challenge: Cast Your Vote
We’re excited to share the entries from our Visualizing the London 2012 Olympic Games challenge where we asked participants to use data from past Summer Games to visualize an Olympic narrative of their choosing. There is a wide variety of projects that bring new insight and context to your experience of the Olympics — from tracking the evolution of male and female performances in the Games since 1896 to looking at the number of gold medals that have been awarded for each sport throughout the years to examining which medal-winning countries were the most efficient in taking home medals as a ratio of population and economy for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
And we need your help to decide on the People’s Choice Award winner! Cast your vote by favoriting a visualization — simply click on the heart icon in the top right corner of the visualization. The project with the most added favorites between 12:01 AM EDT July 28 and 11:59 PM EDT August 12 will be the winner. You may vote for as few or as many projects as you wish. In the case of a tie, the prize money will be divided among the winners.
We encourage you to share the projects that you like using the Visualizing Player. Designers have an opportunity to win a cash prize, courtesy of GE, in either an interactive or static infographic category. All winners will be announced on August 13th.
